Hunters Lodge is exclusively for the use of LAL students and offers good-value accommodation close to the school.

 

The hill-top residence has superb sea views across Tor Bay towards Brixham. Hunter's Lodge accommodates 50 adults aged 18 years or older.

 

Hunters Lodge is self catering and rooms are booked strictly on a 'room-only' basis, although optional fridges and other services are available on request.

 

There is a selection of standard or sea-view single and twin rooms. Both sea-view and standard rooms vary in size. All rooms have en-suite bathrooms or shower rooms with WC. 

 

The residence has a shared kitchen, lounge, TV room and an attractive garden and patio. You can use free wireless internet access on the ground floor, or internet is also available on a public computer at extra cost.

Cleaning Schedule

  • Public areas are cleaned on a daily basis. Guests are required to tidy after themselves.
  • Bedrooms are cleaned before arrival and on departure of guests.  During the stay, rooms are cleaned by the guest and cleaning materials are supplied.
  • If one guest from a twin room departs, the room is cleaned.
  • Rooms are checked regularly and always in advance of arrival and on departure.

Damages

Items, furniture, fixtures and fittings damaged or missing must be replaced at the expense of the guest.

Bedding and Linen

  • Clean bedding and bath towel are supplied on arrival.
  • New bedding is available on a weekly basis and towels are available on a twice-weekly basis.
  • Guests receive new bedding and towels from reception and should return dirty bedding and towels to reception on Monday afternoon between 17.15 – 17.45 and dirty towels on Thursday morning between 07.30 – 09.00.

Television

  • A large television is available in the TV lounge.
  • The TV lounge is available between 07.30 – 23.59 each day.

Computer and Internet

  • Free wireless internet access is available throughout the ground floor lounge area and some rooms within the residence.

Telephone

  • A public pay telephone is located in reception.
  • This telephone is able to make local, domestic and international calls and able to receive domestic and international calls.

Kitchen

  • A full kitchen with utensils and saucepans is available for students to prepare and serve meals.
  • The kitchen is cleaned and tidied twice per day although guests are required to wash dishes and cooking materials that they have used and wipe down cooker, work surfaces that they have made dirty.  Cleaning materials are supplied.
  • Last food is to be prepared at 22.00 with the kitchen closed and locked at 22.30.

Laundry

  • A pay laundry is available at the residence for students to wash and dry their own clothes.
  • The laundry room is opened at 07.00, the final wash is at 21.00 and the laundry room locked at 22.30.

Non Residents

  • Only LAL students are currently permitted at Hunters Lodge.

Staffing

Hunters Lodge does not currently have permanent Reception staff. Staff are available on-call at all times.

In future, the staffing arrangements will be as follows:

  • Monday – Friday: staff are available in reception from 07.30 – 09.00 and around the residence from 17.00 – 19.00
  • Saturday: staff are not normally available.
  • Sunday: staff are available all day for arrivals and departures

Problem Reporting and Complaints

  • All issues including service, housekeeping and maintenance should be given to the receptionist in the residence or to staff at LAL Torbay.
  • Issues are responded to as soon as possible and within 24 hours at the latest.
  • There is a 24-hour telephone line available for students to call. This can be called free from the payphone at Hunters Lodge.  This line is available between 08.00 – 17.00 for all problems and complaints and available between 17.00 – 08.00 for emergencies and urgent situations.

Car Parking

  • Car parking is available at the residence.
  • Parking is at the risk of the car owner and LAL Torbay takes no responsibility for damages or loss.
  • Car parking requests should be made at the time of booking
  • Permission is at the discretion of the residential manager and must be requested and given in advance.

Mail

    • Post for students can be received at Hunters Lodge, where it will be kept at Reception for collection.
    • Stamped and prepaid letters can be posted in the letterbox on Roundham Road, just downhill from Hunters Lodge, next to the Cherra hotel
    • Letters and parcels can also be posted through Reception at LAL Torbay

    Security

    • Guests are responsible for keeping keys securely and returning them to reception at the end of their stay. 
    • Charges of £15 per key are made for lost keys.
    • Room safes are available and guests may also store items in a communal safe and luggage in a luggage store through the residential manager. All items in guest rooms, public areas, the luggage store and safes are stored at the risk of the guest and LAL Torbay takes no responsibility for damages or loss.
    • Public areas of the residence are monitored by CCTV cameras.
    • Guests should inform staff immediately they become concerned over any security or safety issue.

    Arrival and Departure

    • Guests are greeted, given keys and taken to their room on arrival.
    • Keys are returned to reception and rooms checked on departure.
    • Staff are aware of the arrival and departure times of guests using our transfer services.  If travelling independently, guests should notify staff giving notice 24 hours in advance of travel.
    • Check in time begins at 15.00 and check out time finishes at 11.00. The latest check-in time for students arriving by their own arrangements is 23.59.
    • Earlier check in and later check out may be arranged with 24 hours notice. Guests may also use the facilities of the residence on the day of arrival and departure.

    Room Changes

    • The residential manager reserves the right to move guests to alternative accommodation if required.
    • Should the new room be of a lower value, the guest is offered a refund of the difference in price or a full refund if they choose to move to alternative accommodation.

    Rules

    • Full rules are posted in each bedroom
    • Guests should follow the rules of the residence and school and respect the needs and wishes of other guests.
    • Antisocial, illegal or undesirable behavior may result in a guest being asked to leave the residence and / or the school.  All illegal activity is reported to the police authority.
    • It is illegal to smoke inside public buildings in the UK, including Hunters Lodge. Students may not smoke in any part of the residence.
    • The consumption of alcohol is only permitted at the discretion of the residential manager and permission must be requested and given in advance.
    • Noise, music and other activities should not disturb other guests.
